While there are many moments that you will be able to rest while hunting, do not bring along supplies on your hunt that are too heavy or totally unnecessary.

The most important thing that you need to bring along during a dove hunting expedition is your weapon of choice. Shotguns are the most popular, and there are plenty of guns to choose from – so make sure that you pick a weapon that is comfortable for you. More professional hunters, or those with something to prove, can even hunt doves with a compound bow.

Along with your gun, you should take various supplies with you when going dove hunting. Because doves are naturally skittish creatures that tend to frighten easily, you will need to bring along a stool to sit on so that you do not disturb your prey, and camouflage gear so that you can blend in with your surroundings. Head to toe camouflage is often recommended, but on a hot summer day, you may want to wear shorts or short sleeves instead. Also, on a long hunting expedition, it is important to bring along a cooler and plenty of water. The last thing you want is to get lightheaded due to lack of vitamins or dehydration while you are using a firearm. The cooler can even double as a storage container for the birds that you kill – but be sure to take your lunch out first.
